Using Weasis to View Images from CD/DVD Prerequisites to run Weasis software: Java JRE 7 Zip or alternative file size compressor / extractor software, such as WinZip Windows XP or 7 32 bit Please note that while we have provided Weasis image viewer software for your use, you DO NOT have to. Weasis is a multipurpose web-based DICOM viewer with a highly modular architecture. Weasis is a multipurpose web-based DICOM viewer with. Multimedia capabilities.
The viewer that is the easiest to use with Orthanc is mostprobably the Stone Web viewer.
- Weasis is a multipurpose standalone and web-based DICOM viewer with a highly modular architecture. It is a very popular clinical viewer used in healthcare by hospitals, health networks, multicenter research trials, and patients.
- The launch of the application is based on the weasis protocol available since version 3.5. However, it is still possible to use weasis 3.5 with Java Webstart (but only with Java 8 to 10), see the old documentation. Using weasis-pacs-connector allows a high degree of integration and facilitates connection to a PACS. Here are some of the advantages.
Basically, any viewer that supports DICOM query/retrieve should be compatible with Orthanc.
Because the Orthanc project is focused on the promotion of freesoftware for medical imaging, we do not publish the list ofproprietary DICOM viewers that are compatible with Orthanc. Here is alist of free and open-source viewers that are known to be compatiblewith Orthanc (do not hesitate to warn us about other compatible FOSS):
- Open Health Imaging Foundation (OHIF).
- Horos.
- Gingko CADx (aconfiguration guide is available).
- 3D Slicer.
- medInria.
- Aeskulap.
- Weasis(through the DICOM web plugin).
- Oviyam (instructions are availablein the forum).
Make also sure to check out the following extensions to Orthanc:
- Stone Web viewer plugin(advanced version of the Orthanc Web viewer).
- Orthanc Web viewer plugin.
- Osimis Web viewer plugin(deprecated, but provides compatibility with Web browsers that donot support WebAssembly).
- ImageJ extension.
- Stone of Orthanc.
- dwv-orthanc-plugin by YvesMartelli, that embeds dwv.
Very importantly, Marco Barnig independently keeps track of a list ofMobile DICOM Viewersthat are compatible with Orthanc. The Orthanc project is very gratefulto Marco for this great contribution.
